Janet is a licensed psychotherapist working with individuals, families and specializes in EMDR for Trauma Treatment.

Janet’s aspiration is for you to challenge your awareness, engage in positive reflection for choices that will build well-being for you and your family for generations.

Janet works through the understanding of her client’s childhood attachment, that can bring possible trauma from their past or present experiences. She is dedicated to uncovering the challenges from your past, or present wounds, to identify and interpret worry and obstacles. She provides an environment where you can safely, comfortably, and courageously find your best self whether you are working in an individual, family or group counseling setting.

Janet understands the awareness and change process can be disheartening but believes she will meet you where you’re at, stating, -You can’t know what you don’t know-BUT-once you have the knowledge, then you can take flight! Facing our dark side can be unattractive and painful yet once self-realized you will have the freedom to grow and thrive!

Janet’s hope and prayer is for you to go within to realize your purpose and prepare for the person you were meant to be!

Janet graduated from National University of San Diego (NU) with a bachelor’s degree in Organizational Behavior/Psychology and a Master’s Degree from NU’s School of Counselling. Upon graduating from her master’s program Janet continued working at Palomar Family Counselling within the CSED-Children with Social Emotional Disorders as staff. This is where her passion for working with families and children continued. While working at Palomar Family Counselling she also completed Basic Training through EMDRIA certification in EMDR-Eye movement Desensitization and Reprocessing in California. Janet realized early on trauma is universal and affects millions of people of every gender, age, and socio-economic genre. Janet also learned the importance of understanding trauma, and how it manifests in raising children, as well as work and personal relationships.

Janet then moved onto work in private practice in the calm and serene Carlsbad Village area of San Diego. She specializes in working with families impacted by child/adult trauma and maladapted attachment. This is where Janet’s in-depth understanding of working with family dynamics continues to resonate in her work today.

Janet received her training from EMDR/EMDRIA consultant, April Minjarez, PhD. MFT who received Trauma Recovery/HAP trainer of the year in 2021. Janet has also completed The Gottman Method level I in the approach to couple’s relationship and The 7 Principles of Marriage. She enjoyed bringing skills to pre-schooler’s and their parents using the empirical method, The Incredible Years model to promote social-emotional competence for children ages 2-8 years old. These accolades display her commitment to continued professional education, growth, and generational change. Her professional affiliation includes, CHADD (Children and Adults with ADD), NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness). Her teaching and media presence includes hosting an educational children program for 3-5 y/o that was distributed Internationally and Domestically called Janet’s Cubby. Her genesis as the owner/director and teacher of Love Bug Preschool uncovered her purpose and passion as a licensed marriage family therapist that she enjoys today.
